Enteric-Coated Aspirin vs Regular AspirinAspirin is recommended as a protective against future cardiac events as it has blood-thinning effects that can help prevent heart muscle damage when a heart attack happens. Several studies suggest that enteric-coated aspirin doesn't provide the same protective action against blood clots as plain aspirin. It is thought that enteric-coated aspirin might not be absorbed as well as plain aspirin in some patients. However, other studies show that both are equally effective in preventing blood clots. Plus, plain aspirin is more apt to cause stomach problems than its enteric coated counterpart; however, both can still cause bleeds in the GI tract and should be taken with caution and medical supervision. |
